Mentoring my peers
Aura's POV
I woke up early the next day.
The day I became a mentor.
I put on my mission suit and brushed my hair. It was quite long now, so I put it in a ponytail. I supersped to the training room, where the ceremonies were held. Leo was becoming a mentor too, so we both waited there. He had his black and red mission suit on, too. I smiled at him and he gave me a nervous smile. I thought it was because he was nervous he'd be a mentor, but then it struck me.
He was scared of me.
"You really don't have to be scared of me, Leo." I said, coaxingly. "Who said I was scared?" he said in a shakey voice. "I can read body language. Everytime I get near you, you talk weird, you are nervous and tense. I'm not going to attack you, nor take away your bionics. I don't even know if I can, since two seperate parts of you are bionic. It'd take two times, and I don't have that strength now." He relaxed slightly at that. "Don't tell anyone, ok? I can't have the ladies thinking I'm scared. I am quite the ladies man, you know?" I laughed. "I can tell, by the way all the girls part away when you walk in, or the fact that your girlfriend is constantly threatening to break up. Yep, quite the ladies man." He smiled at me, this time not as nervous. Everyone walked in, following the current mentors and the Davenport brothers. I gave Leo a look of reassurance before Chase called me onstage. I walked up and he gave a little speech. Bree stepped forward and handed me a mentor's outfit. I put on the jacket and Chase pinned a little medal to the shoulder. He smiled at me and I stepped down. Leo got his clothes with a slightly shorter speech, and he stepped down. The ceremony ended and Leo and I went to our rooms to change. I quickly put on my mentor's clothes and stepped out. I walked into the main classroom where some reds were sitting. I stood near the board while Chase finished his lesson. On his way out, I highfived him. I stepped up to the podium and started explaining how to properly wield a laser weapon. It had been claimed as my expertise along with a few other abilities. After the lecture, I sat down with Chase and his siblings at lunch. "Busy day, huh?" I said jokingly. "Yeah. Bob almost got shredded by a ceiling fan when I tried to teach him how to properly levitate." Chase said. I laughed.
We ate lunch quickly and continued classes. They had put two beds in the mentors' quarters for me and Leo. I had hung Adam's drawing above it. I curled up for bed a while later in my new bed. It had red and blue blankets and a fire colored pillow. I laid my head down and fell asleep quick.
I awoke in the middle of the night. Everyone was in bed. I heard a noise and I got up to investigate. I spun around to be face to face with a dark figure. He was dressed in black. I started throwing punchesand he dodged them expertly. He hit the chi points in my arm, paralyzing it. He spun me around and pushed my arm against my back. He pressed a cloth against my mouth. The sickly sweet smell filled my world.
Chlorophome.
My vision faded. I tried one last time to call out but no one heard me. The capsules blocked out a lot of sound and Leo was a deep sleeper.
I faded into the darkness.
