Lost & Found
Chase's POV
I woke pretty quickly after Carter knocked me out. Aura was standing over her, holding her arm. They were engulfed in a red glow. The glow channeled into a funnel connecting Carter's neck with Aura's eye.
Aura was taking her bionics.
After a minute, Aura pulled Carter up to stand. She pulled her into a hug.
"I'm sorry."
They both collapsed into a heap. I ran over to them and cradled Aura in my arms. I quickly took some rope and tied Carter to a beam. I hurried over to the central computer board.
"Lockdown over. All mentors and medical officials needed ASAP in hydroloop room."
I pushed a button that opened the doors. Spin, Davenport, Douglas, and the mentors came running in. I held Aura in my arms. "Bree, go get some handcuffs for Carter. Adam, you help secure her. We need medical help for Aura fast.
She took away Carter's bionics."
Davenport gasped and knelt by me and Aura. He checked her pulse and heartbeat. "It's faint, but it's starting to get into a rhythm. We need to get her to the infirmary." Bree came speeding in. "Adam and Bree, help Chase superspeed her to the infirmary. I'll take that." He grabbed the cuffs from Bree and bound Carter. All of the mentors held Aura. Bree supersped us all to the infirmary. I sat Aura in a bed and started doing scans. Our lead nurse, Kelli, checked her over fast.
"She's in a coma."
The news crushed me. I don't know why, I was half expecting this. She had said it might kill her or place her into a coma. I cursed under my breath and started pacing. I sat back down and put my head in my arms. "I shouldn't have let her do this. I should've protected her." Bree patted my back. "We should have been there, but we were doing other things. You were unconcious when she started, you could've stopped her. Heck, if you tried to interfere, she might've taken your bionics and died because of the overload. It's not your fault, Chase." My eyes teared up. "I think this is the only possible time we don't blame Chase," Adam said. I half-heartly laughed. Bree hugged me. "She'll be ok. Carter had strong bionics, but not that many. It won't last long." I slightly nodded, not convinced.
One month later
Aura started to wake up. I ran down there as fast as I could. She was blinking a lot. I hurried over and held her hand. I'd spent the whole month visiting her between classes. Tears fell onto her and I smiled. "I'm back," she whispered. "DId you miss me?" she grinned. Her hair was half-way down her back now, in perfect curls. I laughed. "Yes. This month was the longest of my life." "I was out for a month?" Her smile grew smaller. "Nah, 29 days. So, a February?" she laughed. "Didn't want to keep you waiting too long. I tried to wake up, you know. Comas aren't easy to wake up from. Especially bionic induced ones." I laughed and pushed some hair out of her face. "Can you stand? Or do we need to put you back in therapy?" She smiled and stood. She was a little shakey, but she could stand. I exhaled in relief. "Now for the mentor meeting. C'mon, I gotta walk you down there. We have to recheck your list of bionics. And, we have to discuss what happened on your end." She laughed and I put my arm around hers. The scar from when I met her was still evident, but it had faded some after two months. We hobbled down to the quarters, occasionally falling and laughing too hard. I summed up the month for her as we walked. "Sebastian got a new cellmate. Carter and him are now sharing a cell in the President's special jail, where he kept Krane." I'd already explained to her about Krane and Sebastian. "So basiclly, Sebastian is now locked up with my younger sister?" I looked at her with shock. "Sister?" I asked. She nodded. "My aunt liked her better than me, so she went easy on her. Less tests, less bionics. She also wasn't kept in a goo filled capsule with heavy duty handcuffs on." I nodded. I swiped a card to get into the mentors' quarters. Leo, Bree, Adam, Douglas, and Davenport were already there. Bree ran up and hugged Aura. Adam followed suit, but quickly let go because he was crushing her. She laughed and we sat down. Douglas attached the sensor to her eye and pulled up the program. "Here's the new ones.
Atomic Manipulation
Bionic Manipulation
Dimension Throwing
Geoleaping
Shockwave
Super Speed
Wow. These are pretty powerful. You should really consider challenging S-1 to a battle for the rank of strongest bionics." Douglas said. She laughed. "I should consider trying to walk well before I do that." We all laughed. "You should try to use your Atomic Manipulation, to see what it is." I suggested. She stood up and held out her hand to a vase. Her hands glowed blue and the vase burst. She moved her hands and the molecules rearranged themselves into a bunch of chunks of glass. It looked like a deformed monkey. She laughed and sat down. "We need to put that in the main hall. 'Aura's first attempt at atomic manipulation'." We all laughed and Davenport cleared his throat. We looked over to him. He was leaning against the wall to the kitchen. "I very much appreciate you sacrificing your health to take down a rebel, who presumably wanted to harm us and the students. You put yourself on the line for the safety of the students and I thank you for that.
I would like to promote you to mentor."
