"Get up, oh, my god; get up!" Gianna's voice rang out, rushed; quiet and scared, causing Caleb to bolt up in bed and for Alex to follow.
"What?" Caleb questions loudly, taken over by sudden fear. Gianna points to the staircase where two boys and a girl around the trios age stood, all coated in blood.

Both Alex and Caleb gasp, how had they not noticed three more people in the house?
"Hey," Caleb coughs, sounding almost calm but jumping up from the mattress, leaving Alex stunned and wrapped in blankets proved he was not. One of the two boys steps forward, clothes ripped and tatty and his hair disheveled. An ice cold look painted over his dark features.
"Who are you?" he asks, in a brisk, husky voice, "This is our house."
"We just needed a place to stay for the night. Clearly you've been out there." Caleb retorted just as quick, voice thick with exhaustion. "We didn't, we didn't think anyone as here. Why're you covered in blood?"
"Should be asking you the same thing." The boy replied, nodding at Caleb's shirt, which was unbeknown to him, smeared with blood, none of which was his own. Caleb cringed, peeling the crusty fabric away from his skin with his thumb and forefinger.

"Do you know what's happening?" Alex asks suddenly, rushed and sounding scared. It had sounded almost as if she didn't mean to ask buy it just came out on its own accord. The dark skinned boy whom had been standing behind the first boy stepped forward and laughed nonchalantly, leaning casually against the wall by the staircase as he did.
"Pretty obvious, isn't it?" he laughed. "Thought a smart looking girl like you could figure it out. Tell me..., what's your name?"
"Alex." She replied quickly, rushed.
"Tell me, Alex. What fictional being doesn't talk, walks around with no intention of going anywhere and-this should give it away-eats people?"
It was Alex's turn to laugh then. "Oh, come on. You can't believe it's a zombie apocalypse. Seriously? It's probably just something that'll pass over, people on some kind of drugs... an illness." She gulped. If it was something that'd just pass over, hadn't she committed a heinous crime? Hadn't she, not even twenty four hours ago, convinced herself that the man she had struck with a kitchen knife, already dead? No, No. No, whatever it was. It couldn't be zombies! Ridiculous.
Impossible.
Impossible, right?
right?
