Bionic Flames

One week after the Accident

Aura's POV

I woke up with a jolt of pain. My arm was pinned under a huge steel beam. "Help! Someone! I'm stuck!" I yelled, but no one replied. I tried moving it, but it shifted and it sent a shockwave of pain out. I clenched my jaw. I focused in on my bionics and used my other arm to activate atomic manipulation. I spread the atoms of the steel beam into a shell around my arm to stem the bleeding and keep it clean. I stood up. Blood was everywhere. I held onto my arm and walked out of the rubble. Super speeding would make the wound worse, so I decided to walk. I used the built in GPS to locate the hydroloop. I kept a decent pace for the whole journey, which was about 40 miles. My endurance was good, so I was thankful. By the time I made it to the hydroloop, it was already nightfall. I collapsed inside it after scanning my eye. It wouldn't recognise the fixed eye so I used the one that I used to use. I set it to the academy and fell asleep.

Chase's POV

We were all in mourning for Aura. I was most so, being heartbroken. We held a little memorial for her in the training room. Everyone cried for her, and we brought in Marcus. He was torn up from being thrown, but he was ok. He even teared up. Maybe it was his sister, maybe it was the fact he'd lose his bionics and go to jail. Training was on hold. I sat up by Davenport and my siblings. I gave a little speech about how much she'd sacrificed. Half-way through, someone gasped loudly. I paused and looked over to where they were. It was Spin, and he was standing near the door. Leaning in the door frame was Aura.

"DId you miss me?" She said with a crooked grin. Her arm was wrapped in metal. I ran up to her.

And I kissed her.

After a minute it ended, but it felt like heaven. I hugged her. Her hair was shorter now, with rough edges. "What happened?" I asked. She was splattered with blood. "Jet fuel and bionic strength do not melt steel beams." I laughed. "We need to get that checked out. Also, next time, try to not interupt your memorial service?" She grinned. "I'll forgive you for thinking I was weak enough to die from a steel beam to the arm if you forgive me for interupting my own funeral." I walked her down to the infirmary. She used her atomic manipulation to make the metal into a vase. "That's to replace the one I first destroyed when I got atomic manipulation." Her arm was covered in blood and flattened. The bones were crushed and the skin was torn. "How are you still using bionics? Your chip got removed." I asked. "In case someone ever tried to disable my chip, I have two. One in my arm, one in my eye. Now that one is gone, I just have one. That's why my molecular overload worked when my bionics were down. All my abilities, including Carter's, were on the second one as hidden abilities. I just unlocked them." I nodded in understanding. "We have to amputate the arm. I'd suggest we get one that connects to her bionics? Like a mechanical one. We only have to amputate the end, though." the nurse said. I nodded. "Do that. We'll start working on it." Aura pointed to the vase. "Can you use that metal to make it? It's kinda symbolic to have my fake arm made out of the thing that destroyed it." I nodded. "Can you make it into a shell of your arm again? We'll fill it with the mechanics." She nodded and morphed it into a shell, this time with carvings of fire in it. I grabbed it and ran out to the mentors' quarters. "Davenport, we have to make Aura a new arm. Hers got crushed by a steel beam. They have to amputate. I have the shell of it already, we just need to modify it." He nodded. "Let's go t the lab. I'll call Douglas and Leo." I nodded and handed it to him. I ran out and sat in the infirmary waiting area. A while later, Bree and Adam came to visit me. "You and Aura, huh?" Bree joked. Adam elbowed her. "It's probably the bloodloss from Aura's arm that didn't make her vomit." The nurse came back in.

"She's out of surgery. It was successful."
