you moan and groan to your mother as you trudge down the stairs, rubbing your eyes tiredly as she hands you some peanut butter toast.
"thanks, ma" you murmur, exceptionally tired for no reason other than school.
the older woman smiles sympathetically, "one more day until the weekend"
you sigh, "i know, i know. still sucks though"
your mother just pats you on the shoulder before busying herself again.
you sigh, sitting at the dining table and swiping up instagram. you still had time before school, so why not make a post?

you were relieved to know that despite your forgetful nature, both girls weren't bothered by the fact you didn't tell them.
honestly, you don't know why you didn't, either.
you told hakuji almost immediately, it just felt right, but totally forgot tell anyone else?
you frown against the final bite of your toast, pondering why you did that before ultimately shrugging it off, chalking it up to your short attention span.
for once in your life, awaiting a talk didn't make you bite your nails to the bone out of nervousness. usually you sit as an anxious mess for hours knowing you have something to talk to someone about, but knowing shinobu and mitsuri weren't mad was certainly a weight off your chest.
you hadn't ever really had friends like that — you were quite certain that any of your friends from your old school would have been furious at you for rekindling with douma. or, on the other hand, they'd have jumped at him the second you stepped away.
maybe it wasn't so surprising that they hadn't contacted you once since you moved. when you first moved schools, you had thought you might miss some of your friends, or that maybe they'd miss you, but clearly that was all in false hope as you hadn't heard one word in the few weeks you'd been at kimetsu academy.
you sigh out, brushing those thoughts away and instead focusing on the now.
who cares about those guys? in the few weeks you'd been here, you'd made more real friends than you had in basically your whole life.
it was surprising, but maybe you'd just been around the wrong crowd for too long.
now, with a greater pep in your step, you finish your toast and press a kiss to your mothers cheek before slipping your shoes off and heading out the door.
you hurry to school, hoping to catch mitsuri and shinobu as early as possible so you wouldn't be cut off by the bell mid convo.
arriving at the school, you found the two girls by the gate quickly, giggling over something.
you head over, bumping dramatically into them both as they 'oomph'.
"[name]!" mitsuri beams as she turns around.
you grin, looking at the two with a sorry grin.
"i'm sorry i didn't tell you guys right away" you say, hands fiddling with each other behind your back. even if you weren't scared of this conversation, you still felt guilty for not telling them.
"seriously, done sweat it, [name]" shinobu said earnestly, small hand on your shoulder.
"yeah! we're not mad. promise" mitsuri grins bright and your cheeks flush at the warmth.
"so.. did he go down on his knees and beg for forgiveness?" shinobu smirks.
you snicker, "y know what? not far off"
mitsuri squeals slightly, "ohhh, i need all the details pronto!"
you snicker, quickly recalling how douma had came to your house, professed a heartfelt apology, sung you 'sorry' and gifted you a box of chocolates and bouquet of tulips which were still resting peacefully in your vase.
mitsuri's face couldn't have brighter, and shinobu couldn't have been pulled into more of a grimace.
"yuck" shinobu says plainly, mitsuri simply beaming.
"ohh, how wonderful!! he really sounds sorry" she beams, cheeks a cherry blossom pink as she swoons, "what a gentleman!!"
shinobu laughs, "'douma' and 'gentleman' in the same sentence?"
you laugh, but elbow her slightly. "play nice" you tease, "hate him in silence"
she just smirks, "yeah, whatever. for your benefit i'll just silently curse him and do all my voodoo magic at home"
the three girls burst into giggles, but honestly it was a highly palpable idea that shinobu might do such a thing. you certainly wouldn't put it passed her.
the bell rings and the joy is short lived.
"ugh. great. another day of this hellscape" you say woefully, hand draped over your forehead like you were in some shakespearean play.
"oh, schools not that bad" mitsuri shrugs cheerfully and you and shinobu shake your heads.
"ahh, at least i get to see hakuji first" you bean at once, mood suddenly lifted.
a light smirk twitches at shinobu slips again, "right, your little boy thing"
you blink owlishly, questioning her words internally but before you had a moment to question it she was tugging you to roll call.
you both share a wave with mitsuri before hurrying off, already three minutes late.
