Mismatch

Chapter 3

gismosin

"um...Congratulations?" Genove said unsure if she was kidding or not.

She rolled her eyes "Well, don't go buy me that kitchen set yet."

"So, I leave you for a while and you get married? If you were lonely you should have gotten a dog first." Genove asked.

Was she the only one who could see the irony in that statement?

"Apparently I did both" She added dryly.

He looked at her confused.

"The werewolf that bit me, he claimed me as his mate and as it goes...Elf's are not immune to a mate bond" She explained her situation.

"You mean you are mated to that dog?" He asked and suddenly a light bulb shone on his head and he gave her a wicked smile "You did get yourself a dog...you dog...you."

"Shut up!" She hissed

He laughed out loud "Let me get this right, so you mated to that werewolf?" Of all the things she could go do! This was a first in the elf realm as far as he knew.

"Yep" She said tersely.

"No way out of it?" he asked, snickering. He was immensely enjoying her misery.

"The wolf kind are old school, they don't believe in divorce." She deadpanned, the healer had told her that the bond was a one way process, she could not break it. However she could avoid the mate bond from being complete.

"I need you to research everything on werewolves and mates and stuff in the library" She ordered him.

He calmly walked towards her and on the way picked up an iPad carelessly lying on the sofa and put it in her hand.

"What is this now?" she asked impatiently.

"Research" he said and added "Did you forget the two grand we paid for the gold pass membership to Elf's digital library app? It's all in there do your own research." He said walking away.

She stared at his back and ordered "At least make me some food I am hungry"

He grumbled and walked in to the kitchen in compliance and then suddenly she heard him laughing like a hyena.

She had settled in to the sofa and had just opened the library app. When he walked out of the kitchen barely standing "This is so funny! You got hitched to a dog! I can just imagine the fun the fay court is going to have at your expense.

She just gave him a death glare "The court will never know!" She vowed.

"Oh! You poor chit, do you think something like this could hide forever? I bet it will be in the news app by end of the week." He declared. The fay were high-tech...They had an app for everything.

Suddenly he straightened "knock, knock" he said looking at her.

"Who is there?" she asked knowing he was waiting for her.

"Mrs. Woof!" he said collapsing in laughter and after a while he put his hand up.

"I got one more. I got one more" He said between bouts of laughter.

"What is lady Genove latest style?" He asked.

"Doggy!" he replied, again collapsing in to laughter clutching his stomach and she sat there seething imagining miserable, painful things about him.

"Hardy, har..har. Enough laughter at my expense, now get to work." She deadpanned. He would be insufferable for a while.

He picked himself up and returned to the kitchen, she could still hear the occasional snickering. She curled in to the sofa comfortably and stared at the open library app.

"Geo" she called out sweetly.

"Yes dove?" He said walking out of the kitchen wiping away his tears of laughter.

"What's the password?" She asked staring at the password screen of the app she had opened.

He thought about it for a moment and said "Try this...Ibangwolf"

She threw the iPad at him and he ducked in time howling in laughter as she stormed out of the house.

"What do you mean you don't know?" Michael demanded.

How on earth would he answer that? James wondered.

"She vanished from the precinct and we are unable to locate her" James added as truthfully as possible.

"How can we not locate one little girl. I want my best trackers on this, she is my mate damn it!" Michael hissed furiously. His wolf would not be calm until he had his mate next to him safe and sound.

Well, here goes bad news.

"You need to know something about your mate Michael" James started.

"Yes?" Michael asked impatiently.

"She is the one who beat up the gamma's son" James told him.

"You mean allegedly beat up" Michael added, no way such a tiny thing could beat up a wolf.

"No, she did beat him up" James confirmed.

"What are you saying?" Michael asked his second in command.

"She is not a human Michael" James said, trying to break in the news.

"Then what is she?" the alpha demanded.

"An Elf" James dropped the bomb.

***

Glaneth was fuming! But Genove had been right, if the news ever got out to the fay court, there would be hell to pay...the ridicule she would face. Looked like she had an alpha to kill. With that in mind she passed through the portal in to the human realm.

***

"What the fuck are you blabbering James" His alpha demanded. What was this nonsense, The Elf had not been heard since the great war.

"I am sorry Michael, it's the truth I swear" James said sincerely.

The alpha took in his beta, he was one hundred percent convinced about what he was telling. But an elf? Impossible.

"How can you be so sure?" Michael asked.

"Because she told me herself and I know she was speaking the truth"

"how?" How could he be that certain, maybe she was lying?

"Because she single handled beat up one of the most powerful alpha's in the world in to a pulp as effortlessly as she was painting her nails" James informed him.

"What are you saying?" His alpha asked in disbelief.

"She put you in the hospital Michael, beat you to the inch of your life." James told him the truth.

Michael took a deep breath, trying to recollect what had happened. He knew he bit her and everything else was haze after that point and the next thing he knew he woke up in the hospital bed.

"My crew witnessed the whole thing, with a couple of human cops, we are suppressing the whole thing" James added, he had been busy doing damage control.

Michael took a deep breath "an elf" he said in disbelief, entertaining the idea for the first time.

"Yep" James added.

"Where do you think she is?" Michael asked, knowing the answer in his heart.

"Your guess is as good as mine Michael" his beta offered.

Yep. The elf realm and they had no way to get there. His mate was lost to him forever.

***

Michael was lying on the hospital bed alone, he had sent his beta away to nip any rumors in the bud and keep the whole mate part under wraps. He also need some time alone to sort his feelings out, after all these years, fate had given him a mate only to take her away and probably never to see her again.

It was believed that the elf lived in a different realm on the earth, like a parallel universe and the only way you could access it was if you were an elf. After the war many humans and immortals dedicated their life on finding the elf and till now they had been unsuccessful, where ever they had come from they left no clue.

Dread set in to the alpha as he felt his wolf's pain on his loss.

He and his wolf would never be the same, a mate to a werewolf was a give of the fates to be cherished but here he was cursed. He had never ever heard of a werewolf getting a mate as an elf. Never in their books of history was something like this ever recorded.

May be because they had never crossed paths until now. He didn't even know if they were compatible but apparently fate though they were. Despair started setting in to him, with an unfinished mate bond he would become unstable and unfit to rule and eventually become dangerous to everyone around him including him.

He knew what he had to do right then, he would establish his beta in his steed and he would dedicate his life in finding her. He would not easily give up, fate had given her to him and he would ensure he would find her if it was the last thing he did.

One advantage of being an immortal was that he had all the time in the world.

With that determination he sat up and suddenly he froze.

His hair stood on his body and his heart rate accelerated.

He turned his head towards the door and there he saw her.

He took a deep breath taking her in, his mate, his...his wolf rose in elation, seeing his mate. She was back. She was beautiful...all his, his possessiveness was at all-time high. He took her in greedily, every single feature of hers.

"Done admiring me" she asked sweetly.

He smiled at her "Never. I will never be done with admiring what is mine" he declared.

She narrowed her eyes at him with deadly intent.

"Funny, I am usually the one that owns dogs not the other way round" She said coolly.

His smile dropped at the insult, calling a werewolf a dog was a serious insult.

"My mark on your neck says otherwise" He retorted. Why didn't her mark heal? He wondered.

She gritted her teeth "it's not your mark mutt, what that is...is a wild animal attack. Do you know what I do to wild animals that attack me?" she asked in a tone that left no doubt as to what she would do.

He just stared at her in anger.

"I was thinking a werewolf rug will just be the thing in my living room, something to rest my sore feet on after a long day" She said as a matter of fact.

Michael blood boiled, she insults her mate! His wolf was livid how she dare insult him, his wolf demanded she be put in place.

"Why are you here?" he finally asked, realizing this was not a happy reunion.

"I am glad you asked" She gave him a sinister smile.

"I do need something from you" She told him.

"What?" he asked gruffly.

"Your head" she said and in a blink of an eye she was standing next to his bed and put her hand on his neck and started chocking him. She planned to play with him before she killed him as chocking a werewolf would only revive him back as he was an immortal.

"Goodbye, mate!" she spat in absolute disgust as she increased pressure.
