[ CHAPTER XXXII ]
Amey and Chaitrangi kneeled in the middle of the room while others sat infront of them. Manik was looking at the couple feeling quite satisfied with the act. He gazed towards Nandini who stood beside Somakshya with her head low.
Somakshya couldn't hold back her anger as she turned towards Mayurakshi, "What's all this mess? This is how you raised your son? To have an affair with another woman while still married? "
" Mother this.... " Mayurakshi was speechless. She don't know how to reply. She never expected Amey to pull such a stunt like this. She gritted her teeth in anger and turned to Amey before getting up and slapping his face. " You rascal, this is how you replay my favour? Do you want me to die so that you could get the satisfaction? "
Amey was stunned because of the sudden hit. He hold his cheek and tried to give explanation, " mother, it was avmistake. We didn't meant to do this. I don't know why but I felt like something caused this. Please investigate this"
" Investigate what? " Somakshya asked, " even after committing such scene you are trying to explain here? How come an ungrateful child like you born in our family tarnishing the royal tradition? You have ruined what your forefathers has maintained in Haveri. If words gets out what will people say? Do you want us to become a laughing stoke now? " As she raised her voice Somakshya hold her chest.
" Grandmother please don't get angry" Nandini said rubbing her back . " Too much anger is bad for your health"
Somakshya looked at Nandini with a guilt, " you have to suffer in this mess, we didn't give you enough respect. Please forgive this old woman" she felt guilty for what her grandson did.
" Please calm down first grandmother, let's solve this matter calmly" Nandini said then looked at Manik who was watching them. She gestured him while he smirked at her.
Manik looked at Amey with a cold expression, " I warned you last time, don't ruin my name but you still did, are you that eager to defy my words? "
Amey felt scared. He don't know himself how things has turned to this. Even if he had something with Chaitrangi he never wanted things to get out of his control.
Mayurakshi analysed the situation and decided to speak up. "Your majesty before taking any decision it's better to look up the situation first. What if everything happened infront of our eyes was set up by someone?"
"Does sister-in-law wanted to say I am jealous of your son and set him up?" Such direct question startled Mayurakshi. How could she even think like that?
"Your majesty's words are humourous. I just wanted to say, Prince has been behaving well lately. Now that things has come to this point what if there's some scheme to ruin him. I urge your majesty to check through the situation thoroughly so that no one would be left with injustice" Mayurakshi changed her words skilfully gulping down the embarrassment.
"Oh I really want to know who really wanted to scheme against the prince" Manik said but everyone could hear the mockery in his tone. He gestured to Ishank who immediately nodded in understanding before leaving the room.
Somakshya held her head rubbing her temple slowly. Ishank didn't take much time to return. He whispered something in Manik's ear before retreating behind. Manik's eyes fell on the female figure kneeling besides Amey.
"Miss Andal, care to explain how come aphrodisiacs are found in your room?"
Chaitrangi's head snapped towards him. Shock plastered on her face. " Your.....your....majesty, I don't know"
" You don't know? Things in your room should it be others concern to look for? You aren't aware that you have aphrodisiacs incense in your room? Are you that naive?" Manik interrogated.
Chaitrangi's palm was sweating. The earlier mess was already embarassing enough, now along with this interrogation, where could she put her face to hide? Of course those sticks were given by her aunt to use in emergency. She never needed to use it before but today she wanted to pull Amey and lit up the incense which definitely worked well yet ended up getting ruined. But she couldn't voice it out. Wouldn't Emperor drag her whole family of he knew about it?
"Aphrodisiacs?" Amey looked at Chaitrangi with a glare. But it wasn't only him yet others also looked at her. Now being the center of gaze she felt uneasy.
"Humph! Such shameless act" Somakshya snorted, "how come the priest's daughter become so vulgar? Does Priest Arya knows of your deeds?"
"Your highness" Chaitrangi cried out, "I didn't do anything. I was sick since the morning so his highness came to check on me. I don't know how things has changed and we ended up like that. I wouldn't dare to do such things. I never dreamt of having any inappropriate thoughts" tears running down her face, at this moment Chaitrangi looked pitiful. But her helpless figure was ignored by the people present in the room.
Nandini who has been watching the drama finally spoke, "since things had turned into like this...." A small sigh escaped through her mouth. She walked forward and then kneeled infront of Somakshya, "grandmother, since the day I married into the royal family, his highness never taken a glance at me. And today I know the reason. It seems like his heart already belong to someone else. Now that things has turned to seriousness I want to clear the path. I won't stay as a burden in his life. So I urge grandmother and his majesty to grant me the wish of seperation"
Divorce? Everyone gasped at the sudden request. Mayurakshi looked at her with disbelief while Ehanya gave a look of irritation. The most surprised one was Chaitrangi who wasn't expecting Nandini to ask for divorce. Suddenly she felt happy inside. If this divorce really happened then it would make easier for her. She could become the next princess.
" Nandini what are you saying? A divorce? Seriously?" Somakshya asked shaking her head. " You shouldn't take decision in rush"
"Absolutely" Mayurakshi interjected. She was totally against the seperation. "Amey may have made a mistake and wronged you but you shouldn't take any decision out of anger. I was also at fault for not discipling my son well which caused such trouble" she glanced at Amey who still have the look of surprise then snorted before turning to Nandini, "we must discuss about the current situation and talk about it later"
Nandini got up and gave a pitiful look, "mother, I know I am not good enough for his highness. Besides his highness has always shown whom he likes. Even though I turned blind eye to it but there's still certain time I couldn't ignore it. Last time my hand was scalded but his highness cared about Miss Andal more. This has already proven how much he favours Miss Andal. Now that things has gone this far, it's already clear who he wants actually. I just feel like I am seperating two true lovers to be reunited. So I want to free myself from guilty" then she turned around to look at Somakshya, " grandmother, after today's incident even if we try to suppress the matter there will be a day when it will get out of hand, by that time people will think that Miss Andal is living in injustice. And adding the fact his highness was already intimate with her, it's also question her reputation"
" This matter is really serious" Somakshya sighed, "but your proposal is a bit rush. Why don't you think about it clearly?"
A tear dropped from Nandini's eyes, she covered her face with handkerchief wiping it slowly, " I have been thinking about it for a long time grandmother. It's just I wanted to try for the last time so I hold back. But today's incident has already proven everything. I don't want to become a third person between a couple. I also want to free myself from this loveless marriage. For the sake of me being loyal please grant me this wish" Nandini bowed.
Somakshya looked towards Manik helplessly. Manik was watching the drama with an interest even though his expression didn't show anything at all. He glanced towards Amey, "with such attitude to ruin lives, do you think you deserve freedom? Today you shamed the royal family. To give justice to the victim, I will grant the seperation request. It will be officially licensed once we return back"
Mayurakshi shook her head and about to protest when Manik spoke again.
"And as for you, you must marry Miss Andal to respect her. Your marriage will be handled after the seperation period"

~SLAP~
Chaitrangi stared at Mayurakshi holding her cheek which was burning in pain. Tears brimmed in her eyes.
"It's all happening because of you" Mayurakshi angrily pointed to her, "you are the reason behind this whole mess"
"You ...your highness....I .... didn't do....anything" Chaitrangi sobbed.
" Don't try to act pitiful. It won't work on me. I have always known what kind of motive you have but be because Amey liked you so much I stayed silent. Do you think I wouldn't understand what you are actually planning behind?" Mayurakshi's eyes glared at her, " a mere daughter of a priest, so daring to dream of becoming a princess?"
Chaitrangi felt a tig in her heart. Since she seduced Amey she knew her identity is not acceptable in the royal family. But her father achieved a good respect so no one dared to question her identity. But today the look of disgust Mayurakshi giving her almost shattered her. The situation was forced and she knew she wouldn't have a peaceful moment.
" Your highness, it's my fortune that his highness likes me. I never dared to cross my limit. But what happened today is not my doing. Please have some mercy your highness" Chaitrangi tried to make an excuse.
Mayurakshi didn't even hide her unconvinced look, " if you think yourself a smart one then I must tell you, save your smartness for later. Even at this time you are trying to pull tricks, do you take me for fool? Since Emperor had already decreed your marriage, it must be satisfying to you but remember" her expression hardened, " you will regret your decision" then she left the room.
Chaitrangi wiped her tears. She has gone through such a long term for this moment. Why would she be scared now? Once the divorce is final, she can have the position she wanted and also the man.

Manik was handling some papers in his room when Nandini tip-toed behind him before hugging him. She rubbed her cheek on his before kissing it. "You were amazing husband"
Manik smiled and pulled her in the front before settling her down on his lap, "since you are amazed by my performance, how about you giving me reward?"
"Oh, you want a reward?" Nandini's mischievous eyes teased him, "but I don't know what kind of reward would be suitable enough for your majesty"
"Then I will get my reward myself" he got up along with her before taking her to bed.
