[ CHAPTER XLII ]
"Mistress are you alright? You didn't look good. Shall I call Sihul again to check on you?" Jeia was worried when she saw her more pale.
Nandini waved her hand in denial, "there's no need. He had already told me about it. It's normal to throw up" she shook her head.
"But you don't look good at all. I am worried. If master knew he will scold us for not taking care of you" Jeia insisted. Since she got pregnant Nandini wasn't in her previous self now. She couldn't feel energetic anymore.
"I am fine don't worry" Nandini assured her with a smile. She was just weak not sick. Even though Sihul was brought here for her personally but she really don't want to call him every passing seconds.
"Then do you want to eat something? Shall I ask someone to make?"
"Eat?" Nandini tilted her head, thinking about it she suddenly craved for a spicey roasted meat. "I really want to eat something spicy, roasted meat with fragrant herbs mixed"
" Spicy meat? There are many meat, which one you want to eat mistress, I will arrange it immediately. Chicken, duck, pork—" Jeia was about to make a long list of meat varities when Nandini interrupted her immediately.
"Pekin— I want Pekin. It has mild flavor, tender meat, and ample fat for crispy skin. I want to eat it. Roasted with spices"
Jeia nodded, "yes, I will immediately arrange the roasting process. Pekins are good choice for roasting"
"Just bring the meat here, I will personally roast it" Nandini suddenly felt excited. Seeing her excitement Jeia didn't wasted a second to leave and arrange.
Nandini was packing around the room waiting for Jeia to return. Suddenly the knock on the door had her excitement doubled. She quickly opened her door and about to ask but stopped in middle seeing the person standing infront of her.
"Mo—grandmother?" The truth almost escaped her mouth but she quickly corrected it. She wasn't expecting Somakshya to visit her so suddenly.
Somakshya ignored her surprised look and welcomed herself inside the room. Nandini followed behind her.
" I heard you are pregnant so I came to check on you" Somakshya said with a stern face, " don't mistake my visit as a forgiveness from me. Emperor has personally requested so I had to come and check"
Nandini just stood there listening. So he told her about the pregnancy. Nandini sighed inwardly.
Somakshya turned around looking at her pale face then frowned, " how come you look so pale? You are pregnant or sick?"
Nandini smiled, " grandmother I couldn't eat well this is why I don't look good. Whatever I eat, I end up throwing it up"
" This kind of thing happens during this period. You need to take special care. Every women's pregnancy period is different, some doesn't suffer much and some have to endure difficulties during this period. Have any physician checked on you?"
" Yes, his majesty brought one to take care of me" Nandini nodded.
" It's good. During this period I will take care of you too. You aren't experienced in this matter and needed some guidance"
" Is grandmother willing to help me?" Nandini's bright smile almost weakened Somakshya's heart.
" I couldn't reject Emperor's request" Somakshya replied with a stern face.
Just then Jeia walked in holding duck meat in her hand. " Mistress look what I brought for you"
Nandini was stunned for a moment to see the freshly cut whole duck meat on the plate. Even Somakshya and Biuja were surprised by the sudden entry. Jeia stopped at once looking at the newly arrived guests infront of her. The corner of Nandini's lips twitched repeatedly. She turned to Somakshya and gave a toothy smile.

"Are you sure about it?" Ehanya asked. "There shouldn't be any mistake"
"Your highness it's true. It really seem like the former princess is pregnant. Though there's still no official confirmation about it. No one actually knows about it. Everything could be predicted through their behaviour" the little maid said.
Ehanya frowned, "what about the doctors?"
"None of the doctors in imperial hospital were called for such check up. There's no news about it too" the maid shook her head. She was none other than Ehanya's personal maid who went to investigate Nandini's matter.
"No one?" Ehanya clenched her fist. "How could that be possible. She is clearly pregnant. Then why didn't any doctor was called to check on her? Or it is that a doctor was called from outside? That could be possible, afterall they are in a secret relationship. How could they make it public?" She couldn't help but feel angry.
That bitch really took it high and got pregnant with Emperor's child, a perfect way to bind that superior man with her. She was a step ahead and planned so well.
But how could she let her rest well? She coveted that position, that place, that throne was destined to be hers. That bitch have to die for good. Or she could never win like this.
" Your highness what are you going to do?" The little maid asked sensing the tension.
" Keep on guarding. I need to get every detailed information about her"
" But former princess's place is guarded heavily. I can't wonder around it. The guards would chase me away if they saw me near the place"
"You don't have to get close to them. Just keeping an eye on their movements will be enough. You must make sure, there won't be any mistake. Don't let them know you are watching them"
"Yes" the little maid nodded.
Ehanya's eyes turned cold. That child shouldn't be kept at all. It was my biggest obstacle on the way. That mother and child must die no matter what.

Mentioning about obstacles Chaitrangi wasn't living a happy moment either. For the whole day she has to spent in the kitchen cooking for the priests then had to serve them one by one. Mayurakshi watched her closely so she couldn't escape the work. She could only grit her teeth and endure the hardships alone. By the evening she was all tired. Besides being pregnant made her more tired.
"Why all of these happening to me? I thought I could live a happy life after becoming a princess but that woman is really a bitch for making me work whole day even after knowing I am pregnant" Chaitrangi clenched her fist. "What are you doing? Have your hands gone soft that I couldn't even feel anything?" She scolded the maid who was massaging her shoulder.
The maid was startled and immediately increased the pressure of the massage.
"You all are worthless. Couldn't even work properly. Why the palace still keeping you here with such low class abilities?" She kept on insulting. "How can I go on like this? That woman seemed like she was planning something more" the more she thinks her frustration grew wider.
Now her father also left somewhere she don't even know leaving her supportless. And now that bitch of a mother-in-law is drinking her blood with torture.
" What I am going to do now? Aunt said, becoming a princess means having wide support but why I can't see that? Where are the support she was talking about? A mere princess title which couldn't even shield her from the labour she had to do because of that mother-in-law" Chaitrangi uttered to herself.
" Your highness, the Prince has returned" another maid informed.
Chaitrangi's expression lit up instantly. " His highness has returned? All of you go now. Don't disturb us" she dismissed all the maids and adjusted her cloths. After sometime Amey walked in looking tired.
"Your highness you have returned" she welcomed him with a smile.
"What gotten into you?" Amey frowned.
"I was waiting for you. I was thinking if I could spend some time with you" she gave a shy smile. A smile that used to flatter Amey the most.
Amey looked at her from head to toe, she was wearing a silk night dress looking tempting but what's the point? She is pregnant. A damn condition where he couldn't even do anything. So he ignored her and walked to bed.
" I am tired, let's talk another time"
Chaitrangi frowned, " your highness, don't you like me anymore?" Her expression changed and she felt like crying. Because of pregnancy her emotion triggered more, "I knew after the wedding your highness started to distance from me. If I did anything wrong then please tell me, " I will definitely currect myself. But your ignorance is really heart breaking" she started to sob.
Amey closed his eyes then sighed. He don't understand why he was stuck in such situation. Couldn't help get some rest for himself?
" Why are you being so dramatic? I told you I am tired, what more do you want from me?" He sounded annoyed.
" Your highness, you don't know how I am enduring hardships. You have to help me" Chaitrangi said moving closer to him.
" You are a princess already. You should learn how to handle things. You must figure out yourself" after saing so Amey lay on bed totally ignoring her.
Chaitrangi stood there looking at him completely surprised by his attitude.
How come he changed so much? Where is that sweet talker prince who used to cherish her all the time?
